My hope is that if you have found your way here, to this page, at this moment, and you are reading this, that you are seeking, hoping, and/or are ready to embrace change. The exciting part is you have already begun one of the most difficult parts of your journey.
Change can be hard and is often uncomfortable; however, you do not have to go through it alone. I believe each of us is the expert in our own lives and experiences. I engage a more psychoanalytic style and psychodynamic theory perspective in therapy. I believe each of us offer individual strengths, abilities, and perspectives, which allow us to function and navigate our individual life experiences. What I love most about what I do, is that I get to be a cheerleader, a safe space to listen, hold, reflect, support, validate, and normalize expressed internalized thoughts, feelings, and emotions. My role is to help each person to discover, enhance, and embrace individual strengths to support you in moving on from what may be blocking or holding you back from living as your most authentic self.
As a therapist located in Phoenix, Arizona, my passion is supporting my client’s with identifying, processing, and healing wounds, behaviors, beliefs that may negatively influence self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-worth. I offer a strength based, person centered approach in supporting clients to identify goals and objectives for treatment and encourage and develop skills to support symptom reduction and improved self-image and self-determination.
Shannon has held positions in various fields that supported her development of administrative, time management and organizational skills in industries including travel, party planning and the restaurant business. Following 20 + years of working for the corporate world and following the ending of a ten-year marriage, Shannon returned to school with only a few college credits completed, in pursuit of her educational goals and desires to support and be of service to others. Shannon pursued a mid-life career change to follow her dream to become a social worker. Shannon continued to work full-time, while raising two young children, and attended online classes and completed schoolwork in the evenings and nearly 11 years later, obtained her master’s in social work (MSW) in 2018. Shannon’s life experiences hold value in what she brings to the therapeutic experience her client’s, as well as the importance and value of individual goal setting and determination.
